Virginia Tech Leaves ACCHL
by Shaun Thompson on Apr.04, 2010, under Front Page
It has been announced that Virginia Tech has officially left the ACCHL. No word yet of what league the Hokies may be moving to. Some people thought the ACCHL schedule kept Virginia Tech from making the ACHA D2 Tournament this year. It will be interesting to see what league they go to but it seems obvious they want to strengthen their schedule. More on this as news becomes available.

It was not SOLELY just a matter of the team being a member of the ACCHL that kept the team from making Regionals. There were several other factors as well unfortunately. Granted it was A factor but not exclusively, there were several other reasons as well, including close game losses such as against Liberty DII (twice), a beginning of season loss to NC State, as well as several other opportunities to win against top teams that were unfortunately not cashed in. There’s also some thought given to the inconsistency and the proverbial “good ‘ol boys” club of some of the voting members on the ranking committee which can and did cause impropriety with voting. Briefly put, playing in the ACC was NOT the sole reason the team did not make Regionals.
